Biography
Xinyuan Deng, a versatile artist hailing from Henan, China, is celebrated as a distinguished composer, pianist, conductor, and educator. Her musical creations seamlessly blend Eastern and Western influences, resulting in compositions that exude intricate sonic textures. Noteworthy ensembles such as the PHACE Contemporary Ensemble, Zhejiang Symphonic Orchestra, and Harbin Symphonic Orchestra have performed her acclaimed works. Particularly, her composition "Huai Xu," designed for a Chinese-Western mixed ensemble, has earned her critical acclaim and was performed by Austria's esteemed PHACE ensemble.
Xinyuan Deng's achievements in music include earning third place at the 12th Yanhuang Cup Chinese Style Piano Work Competition for her solo piano piece, "The Rhyme of Yu Opera," and a captivating premiere of "Magic of Snow" with the Harbin Symphony Orchestra at The Second International Music Competition Harbin. Her orchestral composition, "Time Meditation," was recognized at the 1st Hangzhou Contemporary Music Festival. She was also selected as a composer fellow at the Composer's Institute of the Lake George Music Festival, where her string quartet composition "Notturno" was brought to life by The Rhythm Method Quartet in the summer of 2023.
Academically, Xinyuan holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, China, and a Master of Music from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Currently pursuing a Doctor of Music degree at Indiana University, she also serves as a composition faculty member at the Jacobs School of Music Composition Academy, actively contributing to the development of emerging composers and musicians while nurturing the next generation of musical talents. Beyond her musical pursuits, Xinyuan's interests span a diverse array of fields, including fine art, electronic music, architecture, film, and literature, adding depth and richness to her creative endeavors.
